Yesterday was a big day for young Sue: she had a play-date with her sister Peanut! We weren’t sure they’d remember each other or get along, but sure enough they romped happily in the backyard for two hours.
Bryan and I also enjoyed spending some time with Peanut’s family, another young couple who’s gotten a lot [...]
We just discovered we’ve had a baggie of dog poo in the refrigerator since Tuesday. Awesome.
I stayed home with the puppy today so Bryan could not go crazy, and yeah, we’re never having children.
Today the Sue-monster made her first trip to the vet, a very down-to-earth fellow who was able to reassure us that, um, yes, puppies cry, and no, she won’t get parvo if she steps on the sidewalk before her vaccinations are complete. She also got a shot of Bordetella vaccine poured into her nose but [...]
So we’ve had this puppy for what now? Four years? And it’s going pretty well. Of course, I’ve been wearing the same clothes now for three days, my hair smells like a dog, and even though she doesn’t cry at night we still wake up every time she moves in case it signals a tinkle [...]

Inside - 2 (both our fault)
Outside - 11 (plus 3 healthy poops)
My lap - [...]

Maybe on Wednesday nights they just give all the articles in the paper a turn above-the-fold, like when I listen to my entire itunes collection on random.
(I fear it’s going to be all puppy all the time here for [...]
Big news, people. As you may know, Bryan and I have been deliberating for months about whether to adopt a dog. We’re finally taking the plunge. Here she is:
She’s one of a litter of 12, a virtually unidentifiable mix of breeds (we guess a little shepherd, and some kind of hound?). At the moment they’re [...]
I know I raved about the no-knead bread recipe in the NY Times last year, but leave it to Cook’s Illustrated to improve on absolutely anything. I tried their new and improved version about a month ago and haven’t bought bread from a bakery since. Honestly, there are two loaves of this stuff rising in [...]
